Follow these eight steps to take your book from first draft to published, all inside BOOK.AI.

    Create your account and project

    Sign up for free, then click “New Project” on your dashboard and choose the format: Book, Novel, eBook, Poem, Short Story, and more.

    • Pick the language you write in
    • Give it a working title, you can change it later

    Write or import your manuscript

    Write chapter by chapter in the editor, or click “Import” to bring in a Word, PDF, text or Markdown file from your computer or a USB drive.

    • Work is saved automatically
    • Organize your book into chapters in the sidebar

    Revise and polish

    Read your manuscript start to finish, tighten the prose and fix errors. Use version history (the clock icon) to go back to earlier drafts at any time.

    • Ask beta readers for feedback
    • Consider a professional proofread

    Design your cover

    Open “Design” to build your cover with presets and AI design suggestions, or upload a cover you already have.

    • Make sure the title reads well as a small thumbnail
    • Use a high-resolution image

    Add the publishing information

    In “Publish Info”, add your ISBN, copyright page, BISAC categories, description and keywords so stores and libraries can list your book.

    • eBooks and print editions need separate ISBNs
    • Keywords help readers find you

    Choose where to publish

    Open “Publish” for step-by-step guides and checklists for platforms like Amazon KDP, Apple Books and IngramSpark. Export your files and upload them to each store.

    • Check each platform’s file and cover requirements
    • Tick off the checklist as you go

    Sell directly to readers

    Set a price in your project settings (the gear icon), add a payout method under “Sell Direct”, and publish your book to the BOOK.AI Store.

    • Readers pay securely by card
    • Track orders and earnings in Sell Direct

    Promote your work

    Share a poem, a chapter excerpt or your cover in the Author Showcase, add your author photo and bio, and link to where readers can buy your book.
